This vintage Mexican silver demi-parure with necklace & bracelet is the personification of drama and elegance. The striking design is highlighted with large black onyx stones. This is a great example of Mexican design during the 1940's.
Details:
Necklace is 16 1/2 inches long. The center medallion is 2 3/4 inches high and 2 1/8 inches wide ( from side to side of curving onyx centerpiece). The back part of the necklace links are a hair under 1/2 inche wide. Necklace weight is 2.6 ounces. Markings are "Hecho En Mexico Guadalajara 925 ACE". Necklace content is sterling silver and onyx. No damage is noted to the necklace. The silversmith ACE is mentioned in the book "The Little Book of Mexican Silver Trade & Hallmarks" by Bille Hougart.
Bracelet is 7 1/8 inches long and a hair under 1 1/2 inches at it's widest point. Bracelet weight is 1.2 ounces. Markings are "Eagle 5 FSI Hecho En Mexico 925". The eagle stamp is the older style and an earlier mark. Part of the mark is missing due to location on the latch. The bracelet is sterling silver & onyx in content. Although the bracelet has a different maker's mark, the motif is the same and it is obvious they were meant to be a set.
