This vintage necklace & earrings composed of fine .980 silver & amethyst is simply magnificent! The set displays all the design elements that made Mexican silver jewelry from the 1930's & 1940's a highly desired collectible. This design has been seen with the Los Castillo mark from the period post 1948 when the designers were required to mark their jewelry for silver content.
Details:
Necklace is 15 inches long and 1 inch wide. Weight for the necklace is 2.4 ounces. Markings are "Silver Taxco 980". Silver content is .980 which is higher than sterling silver at .925. The higher silver content helps retard tarnish and gives the silver a white glow. The amethyst is natural and varies in hue.
Earrings are 1 inch high and a between 1/4 and 3/8 inches wide. The earrings have the original screwbacks. The earrings are displayed in views #6 & #7. Weight for the pair is 0.2 ounces. Markings are "Mexico Silver".
Both the necklace & earrings are in excellent vintage conditon with no known damage.
