This bracelet was made by Prieto of Mexico City. Unlike the silversmiths of Taxco, jewelers in other parts of Mexico were influenced by European designs. The mark for this bracelet is significant because the goldsmiths and silversmiths were primarily on Avenue Modero & Avenue Juarez in downtown Mexico City to facilitate collection of the government taxes for precious jewelry. There is still a very large concentration today of jewelers on these two streets. This bracelet has a definite Spanish flavor. I think you will enjoy the old-world design and the solid feel of the bracelet. The bracelet is cast sterling and can tolerate daily wear very well.
