William Spratling sterling silver earrings with jaguar motif were influenced by Pre-Columbian designs. The jaguar was a sacred animal to both the Aztecs and Mayans and frequently featured in Pre-Columbian glyphs on temples. William Spratling was revolutionary in incorporating these ancient designs in his silver jewelry beginning in the 1930's and became a worldwide sensation.
